My dad, Hal Schafer, was born on Sylvan Lake in 1940, and still lives in that home today. He was in the Air Force for 30 years, but every summer, our family vacationed in Indiana at the lake. One funny story is that we lived in Hawaii for four years, but guess where we went on vacation? That's right! Sylvan Lake!



We purchased Round Island in 2002, which had been vacant for a long time, and my dad thought it would be a fun project. My husband, Sean, and I were married on the island on July 4, 2008. Sean was energized to work with my dad to complete the project, and we started renting it during the summer of 2009. 



We currently live in Colorado and have four children: Sean, Megan, Sammy, and Jamie. Sean and I plan to retire to the lake (hopefully sooner, than later!)



Generally, my dad, Hal, will greet you and take you to the island to make sure you are all set upon arrival. We invite you to create memories of your own at Round Island Retreat and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we do!
